Youth – Declarations

Over the past few weeks the youth have been focusing on their identity in Christ.

To help them with this key piece of understanding, the amazing Petrus and Desire printed scriptures for each of the youth to have. A few weeks later, the multi-talented Mark turned these declarations into a poem to help them remember their true identity.

Last Sunday our very own Hannah presented posters of the poem to the youth, for them to choose from. They seemed to love the designs and were super keen to get their own copies.

The teamwork in pulling all this together, and the enthusiasm of the youth about it has been so good to see.

Our prayer is that these declarations embed themselves in the hearts of our young people, helping them to know, and live into their true identity in Christ.

Here’s the poem and below the verses it’s based on:

I am forgiven I am free
I belong to You Jesus and You belong to me
Seated with You, the head not the tail
More than conquerors, for You never fail
Fearfully made and created anew
Most beautiful and holy, a delight to You
My body is Yours, my deepest parts You know
I raise a hand, Your Spirit flows
No trace of debt remains
My joy, my hope, over death You reign

I am redeemed and forgiven (Colossians 1:13-14)
I am not my own, I am bought at a price through the blood of Jesus. (1 Corinthians 6:20)
You are my God, and I will praise you; you are my God, and I will exalt you (Psalm 118:28)
My body is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19)
I am royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9)
I am the head and not the tail (Deuteronomy 28:13)
I am fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14)
I am made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27)
I am righteous and sanctified (1 Corinthians 6:9-11)
I am a delight to Jesus (Psalm 18:19)
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. (Psalm 139:18)
I am more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37)
I am the apple of God’s eye (Psalm 17:8)
I am a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17)
