Prayer Month – January

As we start the New Year, we want to call the church to come together to seek Jesus and to pray.

We are inviting the whole church to join us each day in January as we seek to fix our eyes on Jesus and turn to Him as we give Him the coming year.

This text from Hebrews is our encouragement for this season of prayer:

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,  fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.’ Hebrews 12 v1-3

As we continue to face turmoil across our nation and the world – so that we don’t not grow weary and lose heart – never has it been more important for us to have a fresh vision and revelation of the King of kings and the Lord of lords.

Each day throughout January we will be hosting a range of prayer events and providing prayer resources to guide us as we pray.

Daily Prayer Points

Each day throughout January we will be posting a series of Daily Prayer Points as a resource to help us as we pray together as a church.

These will be posted each day on the Calendar page of the website which can be found here: Calendar

Prayer Resources to help us as we pray

2023/ 2024
Prayer of Examen

The Examen is where we pause, maybe a couple of times during the day, to examine the places and the ways in which we’ve encountered God over the past year and look ahed to the coming year.

It’s essentially a spiritual exercise to look back, to look within and to look ahead.

As we approach the end of 2023 and look ahead to 2024 consider taking some time for a reflective Prayer of Examen.

The Lord’s Prayer

In Matthew 6:9-13 Jesus teaches His disciples how to pray by what has become known to us as The Lord’s Prayer.

As we join together as a church to pray for the year ahead this guided reflection through the Lord’s Prayer may be a helpful resource to you.

As we pray through the month of January as a church, we’ll be adding more prayer resources here, so do check back as together we seek the face of Jesus.
