Our Story

Who we are

South West London Vineyard is part of an international family of churches, the Vineyard. It was started in 1987 with a small group of people longing to see how following Jesus could make a difference, not only in their own lives, but also in the lives of the people in the city around them.

Since that time, SWLV has continued to flourish as we continue to explore how to follow the way that Jesus taught us to live. We want to be empowered by His Spirit, extending His Kingdom together, everywhere, in every way. We want to make disciples, develop leaders, plant churches, and contribute to the blessing of the whole Body of Christ.

South West London Vineyard started in 1987 when John and Eleanor Mumford gathered with a small group of people to see how following Jesus could make a difference, not only to their lives, but also to the lives of the people across the city and indeed the nation.

As SWLV grew larger, it began planting other churches, which in turn planted other churches, and we are proud to be a part of a still-growing movement of Vineyard churches across the UK and Ireland.

We believe God has called us to make, train, and equip disciples, who love and serve Jesus, love and serve one another and love and serve their neighbours.

We believe God has called us to be the church across SW London through central celebration and local mission.

We believe God has called us to plant churches across the capital by training and equipping potential church planters, and sending and nurturing those called by God.

We’d love for you to come and join with us.
